Attended the Singapore International Photography Fest today!
Was looking forward to end day of work because we the ID/IR team were heading to SIPF08 at old school today!
I have been very interested in photography and the shots that people take. I was eager to head down to the exhibition to see what wondrous photographs these photographers have taken.
I feel that these professional photographers are so amazing. There was a section which I thought were a series of shots of children in different garb. Each photograph depicts an emotion that was so strong and clear. In some of the shots, it was the look in their eyes that was so intense.
There was also a section where there were random closed up shots of items, objects and just about of everyday life. It may be random but it somehow appeals to me in the sense of the texture of the picture, the vibrant colours, background of the picture, yadda yadda. Basically, the whole feel of it. To me all these elements, make up to an interesting photo.
I like pictures of buildings, old and new.. more of the old as it usually speaks of its architecture and heritage. Thinking back, why did I go to Spain when I was much younger? I would have probably learned to appreciate it’s history, culture and mostly architecture now. And I would definately have taken more pictures of buildings.
Well, I should just be glad that I had the opportunity and fortune, that I was able to tour a few countries in Europe in fact, at the expense of my parents.
Not that I’ve totally forgotten about Spain and Portugal. I loved the churches and castles we visited there. I love their art work (oil paintings) on the ceilings which were usually found in the homes of the rich and in big big castles. Magnificent! We visited so many then! Not forgetting that they loved mosaic tiles too and often it was being pieced together to form a beautiful work of art or just tiled to the whole exterior of the building itself.
Okays till I take the first step to actually read up more and have the time to pick up photography maybe I would get myself an SLR.
For now, I’m really still thinking if I should get a lomo camera. A Diana or a Holga at least to play around with it’s effects. I have thought for months and months and I haven’t gotten down to getting it. I shall speak about my interest in lomography sometime soon.
Time to hit the sacks!
